For the last few months I’ve been working near the West Loop in a co-working space. It’s been nice to have a consistent place to go to and of course, it feels good to get out of the house. Most self-employed people talk about going stir crazy at home after awhile. I solved that awhile ago by mixing up my work environment, whether it was going to bars, coffee shops or co-working spaces. This helped to foster inspiration as I was exposed to new and interesting surroundings. This was how LooseKeys worked for awhile and it was a blast but then winter rolled around and the idea of moving around the chilly city so much became a little less appealing.
Not quite ready to get our own space, we decided to do several months working out of Bomkamp. I’d love to see LooseKeys with it’s own office space at some point but right now that’s not one of our priorities. For now the co-working environment has been fantastic, not only because you have a desk and a place to go but you also have people around you who are working on some awesome projects. I’m able to see what they are doing and overhear some ideas that might spark something I’m working on.
Seeing other people succeed helps influence your belief that you can succeed too. Which is what I’ve been seeing as LooseKeys is surrounded by talented and smart people like; Aaron Becker, Nick Campbell, Chris Schmidt, Jack Danger and Dave Kiss. I’m really amazed at some of the ideas they have and the projects they push out. Hopefully me and my team have a similar effect on them and it continues to help us all do better. I know for me it has really helped fuel some of the newer things LooseKeys and myself have been working on.
