Handing Over The Keys

Airplane

When I go on vacation, its usually a working vacation. The last few trips I’ve gone on have been in the US and I don’t usually find myself stepping away from the computer or from work for more than a day but these next few weeks are looking a little different. Today Maeve and I leave on our honeymoon and I’ll be handing over the keys of LooseKeys to Jake while I’m away. It’s a strange and scary feeling to let go of control of your business and hope that it runs smoothly while you’re away. It’s been my baby for the last year and half and I don’t want anything to happen to it while I’m gone. That’s why you have people on your team that you trust and people who share the same vision you do. If you don’t have the type of people you trust, you’re going to be pulling out your hair while you’re away. Thank goodness that LooseKeys is really built on trust. Without an office and with so much time spent working at other locations, the LooseKeys team has the freedom of working where and when they want as long as they get the project completed. I always have to trust that the work will still get done and now that I’ll be away, I’m confident that it will. Running your own business is an on going task. You have to keep the company moving forward otherwise at any moment someone could speed on past you. I know I’ll still be checking in via email and if needed by phone over the next two weeks but it’s going to be nice to recharge and spend time with my awesome and understanding wife.
