Paranoia Will Destroy You

Competition pushes us to do better, but constantly being worried about what the other guy is up to will only hold you back. I sign a lot of NDAs with the people and companies I work with. And I understand why, there are a lot of businesses in the same space or maybe a competitor who would love to get some insider information before they launch a new feature. I hate to break it to you, if you’ve thought of this idea then it is probable that someone else or your competitor is already working on the same idea too. Still you can’t worry about what the other guy is doing all the time. Heck your idea might be slightly different or even slight better or you might be able to get yours to catch on before them. Pay attention to what your competition is doing but don’t get so wrapped up in what the other guy is doing that it slows you down or makes you second guess too much. It will cost you both your product / service and your sanity. If you see or learn what your competitor is up to, use that information to differentiate your business and do a better job. Don’t let the paranoia cripple you into falling behind, you can’t run a successful business from a standpoint of fear.
